Today's Maker: Stephen Campbell - Creating a market for building and selling indie products

WHY HE'S FEATURED:

  • Left his Chemical Engineering job to pursue his entrepreneurial dreams ✨

  • Successfully bootstrapped Virtual Ghost Writer, grew it to over $200 MRR and then sold for undisclosed amount

  • Now building Tiny Acquisitions, which got #3 Product of the Day on Product Hunt, has reached up to 2,000 users, 200 projects listed, and over 15k in transactions processed

  • Shares his process and gives back to the community on his Twitter

Stephen is a true bootstrapper and that's one of the reasons I love following him. He's also following a tried and true indie making philosophy-- start building, learn about new problems in the process, and then solve those problems! After his experience trying to sell Virtual Ghost Writer, Stephen realized there was an opportunity to help small indie products get acquired. And thus, Tiny Acquisitions was born. He's extremely focused on growing his product and the early results are really exciting.

Read on to learn about 3 habits that have changed his trajectory as a maker 👇

3 Habits that changed Stephen's trajectory:

  • 🤐 Forget what people are going to say about you - This is the source of the greatest friction in sharing your thoughts, building process and journey

  • 🙏 Gratefulness - When I get up each morning, I am happy that I have energy, whit, fortitude and physical ability to do more another day.

  • 🌻 Minimalism - I generally try to do every single thing in the easiest possible way with as less complication as possible. Launch quickly.

You can see that Stephen's approach to habits resembles his overall philosophy towards his work--keep it simple and don't over-engineer. And as long as you DO YOU and are grateful along the way, you'll be on the right path. Follow him @stepocampbell_ on Twitter or check out his portfolio to learn more about his work.
